it takes time to become really good at something. all of our japanese green teas, including muzi matcha, come from the world's oldest tea plantations in nishio, japan, regarded as the finest tea growing area in the world. for over 800 years the nishio tea plantations have cultivated the art and science of growing tea, meeting the highest standards to provide tea for the ancient japanese tea ceremonies. their skill is now being made available to enrich the lives of people around the globe.
teas from the nishio plantations are rare because of their high demand in japan. over 1/2 of the matcha and other green teas enjoyed in japan today come from the nishio plantations. since the early 1970's, muzi has bred the stock of organic tencha tea plants to cultivate the finest organic matcha in the world. only a small amount of this premium tea is destined for export to foreign markets.
all of muzi teas are grown in optimum conditions and handpicked from the best tea regions in the world. muzi only purchases from tea estates that year after year have proven that they produce the best quality tea leaves. and, yes, every muzi tea leaf takes a trip to germany where it must meet the world's most exacting tea testing standards before it ends up in your cup.
